Peter Greenberg Interviews Zucker- Abrahams – Zucker

I owe much of my career to my time spent as a student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. And while I was there, I became friends with three of the most talented people I know — David Zucker, his brother Jerry and Jim Abrahams. While in Madison, they opened a cutting edge, improvisational theatre, called Kentucky Fried Theatre; and then shortly after I moved to California to become the West Coast Correspondent for Newsweek. They drove to California as well. And the rest, as they say, is history. ZAZ became the comedy directing trio behind “Airplane” and so many other comedy classics. Recently, I sat down with them to talk about their careers, the story behind some of their movies (and classic scenes), their casting decisions, the importance of structure and storytelling, and of course, we discuss where it all started, in Wisconsin.
