The Essentials

What “ICE” Means & How It May Save You

In the travel industry, there’s a three letter term you need to know — ICE. It’s otherwise known as “in case of emergency.”

It’s essential to have numbers and contacts with you in case you get into trouble.

You should have your address, blood type, important medical information, allergies, an emergency phone and email contact.

Bring documents like your passport number, driver’s license and proof of medical insurance.

The good news is that more folks these days tend to have this information when they travel, but the real question is how are they carrying it?

You can always have a hard copy, but I suggest a back-up plan.

Put all of it on a USB flash drive and carry it around your neck or attached to a chain or on a belt.

In an emergency, accessibility is key, and that flash drive may be the solution.
