The Essentials

Flying Over the Holidays in 2020

If you’re going to be traveling this holiday season, not only have many of the rules changed but also many of the experiences have changed.

While there may be fewer flights — and fewer passengers than 2019 — that doesn’t mean the planes won’t be full.

And while the airports will be busier, don’t expect the retail experience to be the same.

Many airport stores remain closed.

Wanting to eat on the plane? Bring your own.

And even airport parking may be different. For the moment, some airports have actually made it free because it’s cheaper to not charge than to employ staff to manage a 90% drop in vehicles.

Still, plan to get to the airport early because rules and schedules tend to change with very little notice.
