The Essentials
Where Cruise Lines Stand Right Now
4-20-20
The Centers for Disease Control just extended the no-sail order for cruise ships another 100 days.
Operationally, that means that most of the summer cruise schedule has been cancelled.
Many lines have suspended their schedules until November. But the real questions remain: when cruising does come back, what will change?
For starters, you can kiss those legendary cruise ship buffets…goodbye. It will be waiter service in all dining rooms and more space between tables.
Anyone with a pre-existing medical condition must disclose it when booking the cruise, and sign a liability waiver, depending on that condition.
And some travel insurance policies may be rewritten to include pandemic coverage, as long as the pandemic alarm is sounded after you board your cruise, not before.
