The sun, the beach, a pina colada or two are the usual suspects. In more recent times, personal safety and crime might also be the stereotypes.

It’s time to dispel some myths and acquaint you with a few destinations and experiences in the Dominican Republic you won’t find in the brochures or guidebooks. And while the beaches are great, the best times happen when you go into the neighborhoods. You hang out with the locals, the people who actually live and work there for a great and true experience.
