Saudi Arabia: A Special Report From Peter Greenberg

It was a country virtually closed off to most Americans since it became a Kingdom in 1932. And then, last September, after nearly 89 years, Saudi Arabia opened its doors…granting visas to visitors from 49 countries (and the U.S.).
The pent up demand by foreigners to see Saudi Arabia was huge, and the country soon was granting an average of 55,000 visas a week. The visa program is part of a larger economic reform plan that has been championed by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud or MBS as he’s also known — in a long term effort to broaden the Kingdom’s income portfolio as well as to lessen the country’s dependence upon revenue from oil. Of course, the opening of the doors to the Kingdom did not come without a fair share of controversy. Click play to your left for Peter Greenberg’s special report from Saudi Arabia.
