Where You Can Get Free Admission to Museums

It’s one thing to appreciate art as you travel around the world. It’s another to get stuck with hefty admissions prices when you go to museums.

But thankfully, more and more destinations are offering free admission to its greatest museums.

In London, the Tate museum and the National Gallery are now free.

The Prado in Madrid is free for those under 18 and students under 25.

At the Louvre in Paris, admission is free the first Saturday of the month after 6 p.m. and every Friday after 6 p.m. for visitors 26 and younger.

In the U.S., the Getty Museum in Los Angeles is free.

In Washington, D.C., the Smithsonian and the National Air and Space Museum have no entrance charges. The free admission also applies to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

In New York, the Museum of Modern Art has kept its free admission policy on Fridays. On Saturdays, the Guggenheim is pay what you wish from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
