In the United States, the cheesiest state is — not surprisingly — Wisconsin, which produces nearly 600 types of cheese. And you’ll find almost all of them at the weekend farmers market in Madison.

And in New York, there’s actually a cheese trail. It takes you on a route through dozens of artisanal dairies around the Finger Lakes.

And in California’s Sonoma County, you can participate in hands-on cheese-making workshops. The problem is…how do you get it home? The good news is that many of the cheesemakers now ship.
