The Essentials

More Countries Requiring Proof of Medical Insurance

When you travel overseas, you know you need to bring your passport and any appropriate visas or you won’t get in.

But now, as medical costs have grown, more countries are now requiring you to have — and show — proof of travel medical insurance in order to enter.

These places include Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Ecuador, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

And if you get to a border and can’t provide insurance proof, you’ll have a choice. You can buy the policy right there or be denied entry.
