Travel Tip: How to Use Less Plastic When You Travel

As more and more companies ban single-use plastic items, here are some figures to help you join that movement every time you travel.

Americans use 500 million drinking straws every day. Be on the lookout for restaurants that automatically serve straws with every drink, and send them back.

How about the water bottles in your hotel room? Consider this: 1,500 plastic bottles of water are discarded every second and 75% of those are never recycled.

So what’s the solution? Bring your own stainless steel water bottle with you when you travel.

And how about those coffee pods in your hotel room? These single serve pods are not biodegradable or recyclable. Each year, 10 billion are thrown into North American landfills.

Think about these target areas of plastic when you travel, and you can make a difference.
