Excess Baggage: Bringing Food on Planes

If you’re like me, you define most “airline food” as an oxymoron.

Now, to be fair, the airlines have improved their cuisine over the years. But for most of us, that means buying on board. Don’t want to do that? That’s fine. It’s a BYO (bring your own) world at 35,000 feet.
But what are you going to bring on board? Please don’t bring anything cooked.
Trust me. Nothing smells worse than a half-eaten bag of a fast food hamburger or that pizza with anchovies on a plane.
Remember that you’re in an enclosed aluminum cylinder, and the smell can last the entire plane trip. So what do you bring on board? You can bring fruit, cookies and crackers. Want some candy? That’s okay with me. Just do me a favor and bring enough for me!
