This winter, colder-than-average temperatures have dominated a large portion of the country, resulting in an abundance of snow. It’s a great time for devout ski and snow lovers to take advantage of the powdery conditions and warm up après-ski in these ski resort bathrooms discovered by Luxe Lavs contributor Angela Fairhurst.
The St. Regis Aspen Resort in Aspen, Colorado
Aspen doesn’t just have great skiing conditions, it also has a unique history from when it was founded as a mining town in 1879. Following World War II, Aspen was reinvented with the establishment of the Aspen Skiing Company. Since then, it’s become an internationally known ski destination. The St. Regis Aspen Resort is nestled at the base of Aspen mountain and, for this season, completed a renovation to the lobby bar and debuted a new restaurant. The hotel has rooms, suites, and residences inspired by the classic mountain sunsets. You can cozy up in the Aspen Mountain Suite located on the corner of the top floor overlooking the pool and the base of Aspen Mountain. The living room has a baby grand piano and marble fireplace. The suite has a marble bathroom with a separate shower, bathtub, and double vanities. Plush bathrobes and French Remède bath products are just two of the amenities. Beside the complimentary bottled water and a humidifier at turndown, the St. Regis Butler Service can fulfill almost any request, from packing and unpacking to free coffee and tea service. I just wonder if they have someone who can play the piano!
The Ritz-Carlton in Lake Tahoe, California
The town of Northstar, California, located near the north shore of Lake Tahoe, is home to packed powder, 17 lifts, and over 40 open trails with 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is set mid-mountain and offers ski-in/ski-out access, with Ski Valet and Mountain Concierge service available for all hotel guests. Accommodations include guest rooms, suites, and residential suites with large layouts and views of the scenic slope side and mountain. Club Level rooms and suites include exclusive benefits and lounge access. After a day on the slopes, The Après Adventurist at the resort will light the in-suite fireplace, and prepare snacks and warm beverages, such as hot toddies. A soothing bubble bath can also be waiting for adventurers’ aching muscles. I suggest a combination of the two in the Jacuzzi tub in the 1,90-square-foot, three-bedroom Slopeside Residence. All bathrooms are done in contemporary marble with dual sinks and an oversized deep-soaking tub and separate shower. The luxury bathroom amenities are made by Asprey.
Hotel Talisa in Vail, Colorado
Since the opening of the season, Vail has had more than 49 inches of snow. Vail Mountain peaks at 11,570 feet, offering 5,289 skiable acres with over 80 trails and 33 ski lifts. The alpine-styled hotel located at the base of Vail Mountain among the aspen and evergreens is the new Hotel Talisa. Hotel Talisa recently completed a $60 million transformation, and the 285 rooms and suites ski-in/ski-out resort offer contemporary décor with indigenous inspiration from the area’s native tribes, artisans, and outdoor adventurers. All the rooms and suite bathrooms have an impressive oversized glass rainfall shower with elegant wall sconces, mirrored vanities, and polished chrome fixtures. The suites offer more square footage with separate parlors to unwind from the day. Make sure to pick a suite that includes a freestanding soaking tub. The Talisa two-bedroom deluxe suite has a small kitchen and a freestanding copper soaking tub in the master bath. Partake in the Apres Everyday Program starting at 3 p.m. with gourmet hot chocolate, followed by champagne at 4 p.m.
Hotel Park City in Park City, Utah
Park City Utah is located 35 minutes east of the Salt Lake City International Airport. It’s sandwiched between the Deer Valley Resort and the huge Park City Mountain Resort, both known for their ski slopes, with 66 trails located on over 1,300 ready-to-ski acres. Hotel Park City, an Autograph Collection Hotel, is an “all-suite” hotel where couples can enjoy more space. Each of the 99 suites features a cozy fireplace, king-size bed, and a private balcony with views of the mountains. Bathrooms at Hotel Park City are similar throughout all suites and include a European triple-headed shower, jetted Tub, granite slab counters, slate tile floors, and bath soaps and lotions by The Spa at Hotel Park City.
