Peter Greenberg Worldwide—Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey—December 3, 2016

Locations in this article:  Havana, Cuba

airport2This week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show comes from Newark Liberty International Airport, which is launching United’s first nonstop service between Newark and Havana, Cuba. Joining Peter will be Arnie Weissmann, Editor-in-Chief of Travel Weekly, with a report on the current tourism experience in Cuba and what it may look like six months from now—especially in the wake of Castro’s death. United executive Stephen Morrissey, who is in charge of regulatory policy, will explain how Cuba-U.S. negotiations produced the Newark to Havana route, and the challenges the airline faced in the process. Greg Geronemus, Co-CEO of smarTours, talks about the changing nature of Cuban tourism for Americans, the infrastructure challenges (hotel rooms, transportation, and even bathrooms) for what is expected to be an explosion of U.S. travelers. Laura Redman from Condé Nast Traveler discusses the rapid changes on the ground, in the air, and on the water in the once-forbidden destination. There’s all of this and more as the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from the Newark Liberty International Airport.
