oneidaThis week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from the F.X. Matt Brewing Company  in Oneida County, New York. The brewery opened in 1888 and is the fourth oldest family-owned brewing company in the United States. It’s located at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, and beer has been brewing at this location since 1853. Today, the brewery is run by Nick Matt Sr., who is the third-generation owner of F.X. It’s also known as the Saranac Brewery. It was the first brewery in the nation to obtain a license, and it was the first to sell beer following prohibition. Peter talks to owner Nick Matt Sr. about some of the little-known brews produced on site, including an IPA resurrected after more than 100 years. Craig Muder from the National Baseball Hall of Fame reveals some of the most unique artifacts you will find at the famed museum in Cooperstown, NY. Brian Howard, from the Oneida Historical Society, talks about the importance of manufacturing in the area and how the history of Oneida County parallels the history of the nation.
