Travel Tip: How You Can Participate in Wellness Tourism
One of the fastest-growing trends in travel is one you probably didn’t realize had a name. It’s called wellness tourism.
The idea is to incorporate health into your travels, whether it’s spas, natural hot springs, or yoga.
A company called Travelteerism partnered with the Mind Body Spirit Network to create wellness-centered tours.
Its upcoming trip to Guatemala includes a Mayan healing ceremony and a visit to a local weaving cooperative. A trip to Nicaragua will offer yoga, spa treatments, and a day of volunteering with locals.
You can also incorporate health into your hotel stay. Six Senses hotels are all about wellness treatments, and its newest hotel in Portugal has a Visiting Practitioner program that brings in healers, yogis, and other experts.
Or, how about a wellness cruise? MSC Cruises has a week-long Caribbean cruise dedicated to holistic living, and Silversea Expedition has adventure cruises with yoga, nutrition, and spa treatments.
