Travel Tip: Where You Can Find Nature Centers in National Parks
Your national park trip should focus on connecting with nature. But some places are making it easier with park-run nature centers.
Glacier National Park in Montana just opened its new Apgar Nature Center. It offers free, ranger-led activities like guided hikes, nature talks, and boating tours.
Since the Many Glacier Hotel inside the park is celebrating its 100th anniversary, you can join a free walking tour of the property.
The Nature Center in Maine’s Acadia National Park has information about the local plants and wildlife, and is the jumping off point for ranger-led hikes on nearby trails.
At Chickasaw National Park in Oklahoma, the nature center offers talks about prairie and forest ecosystems within the park.
You can even get your nature fix in urban parks. Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C., has a nature center with live animals, a bird observation point, and a planetarium with free shows.
