Travel Tip: How Hotels are Changing Their Minibars
You’ve probably never picked your hotel based on its minibar. But there are some that you might want to pay attention to the next time you check in.
Both the Andaz in West Hollywood, California and the Greenwich Hotel in New York have minibars that are…free? That’s right, these minibars are fully stocked with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks at no additional charge.
That’s practically unheard of in today’s nickel and diming world.
Kimpton Hotels‘ minibars aren’t exactly free, but they do have a program called Raid the Bar for loyalty guests. If you join Kimpton Karma rewards, you get a $10 credit to spend on in-room snacks.
The new Virgin Hotels promise something unusual: street prices in their minibars. Meaning no more $8 cans of sodas.
If Fido is coming along for the ride, check out The Fairmont San Francisco. They have an entire minibar dedicated to pets, complete with organic dog treats and toys.
Some stuff you just couldn’t make up if you tried.
