Travel Tip: Travel Gadgets for Photographers

Now that most of us have cameras on our smartphones, everything becomes a photo op. But in some cases, you actually do want specialized equipment to get the best picture you can.

Ever heard of the GoPro? It’s a line of cameras that mount to your car, helmet, handlebars, or other systems so you can catch action shots…in action.
The newest Hero 3 model is extra light and waterproof—and it’s Wi-Fi enabled so you can even control it with a smartphone app.

Here’s something that might make some people dizzy…but is actually kind of cool. It’s called the Pivothead Recording Eyewear. It’s a pair of sunglasses that also shoots HD video and still images. You’ll look a little crazy, but the footage you get is totally worth it.

If you are relying on your camera phone, there are now third-party devices to get a better picture. A product called the Olloclip Lens connects to your iPhone and adjusts the angle to macro, wide-angle and fish-eye. So you’re not stuck with just the standard landscape or portrait option.

And then there’s a whole world of tools to help you edit and filter those photos…but we’ll save that for another time.
