How about a new book? Yes, real books are still available, and this one just out is a fascinating one, particularly for those that are interested in aviation and technology. China Airborne by James Fallows looks at the history of China’s aviation industry. It’s a microcosm of what’s been taking place in the country. I remember avoiding all of the China airlines because of their unsafe conditions. China is now in the midst of building one of the largest and most advanced airline infrastructures, including 150 airports. Fallows is a great storyteller and writes some of the best material on contemporary China.
