If you’re trying out a new RV park or campground, it can help to refer to ratings and reviews. But it’s also helpful to know who’s doing the reviewing and what factors they’re looking at.
You’ve heard of the AAA rating system for hotels, but did you also know they have one for campgrounds? AAA CampBooks offers a list of 4,000 privately operated campgrounds in North America, which are rated on a scale of one to three by anonymous inspectors.
They look at criteria like cleanliness, visual appeal and overall condition, and revisit the grounds annually to stay up to date.
Woodall’s is the old standby for RV campgrounds, with experts traveling the country to determine scores on a one to five scale.
You can also check out industry publications, like Trailer Life, which have people on the ground scouting out locations.
But if you prefer to see reviews from people just like you, check out GuestRated.com. This is a comprehensive database with more than 60,000 user-generated reviews of almost 2,000 campgrounds, RV parks and resorts.
This site relies on online evaluations to generate “Report Card” scores for each park based on service quality, property condition and the all-important restrooms.
