This weekend marks the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day and across the country there are green activities for every type. Lily J. Kosner rounds out this weekend’s top opportunities. 1. Rally at the Mall

Earthday 2010 on the National Mall

If you’re in the Washington, D.C. area, head to Earth Day on the National Mall: Mobilize the Earth. Free and open to the public, the event runs from 11am to 7pm on Sunday, April. 22. In addition to musical performances by Cheap Trick, there are interactive exhibits, renewable energy demonstrations, youth rallies, and booths from non-profit and other environmental embassies. The rally will also bring EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, Rev. Jesse Jackson, members of Congress and the heads of major national and international NGOs to the podium. In addition, Denis Hayes, who organized the the first Earth Day 42 years ago, will speak. Can’t make it to D.C.; watch the event streamed live online.
