5. Take the Ultimate Plunge
What better way to mark the centennial of the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage than by seeing the famed wreck for yourself? But wait, I thought it was submerged underneath nearly 12,500 feet of freezing cold ocean water. It is. And now you can go all the way down to see it too. For the truly adventurous (and the truly deep-pocketed), Titanic Expeditions Newfoundland offers a sixteen-day excursion that includes visits to Iceberg Alley to take in the type of icebergs that sunk the unsinkable ocean liner, to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where many of the victims are buried and, yes, to the bottom of the sea in a Russian submersible vessel to witness firsthand the most famous shipwreck in the world.
