Belfast, Northern Ireland was the site of the construction of the RMS Titanic, from 1909-1911, and is now home to the £97 million Titanic Belfast, the world’s largest museum commemorating the legendary ship. The museum, which opened its doors on March 31, 2012, features nine interactive galleries, replicas of passenger cabins and countless other attractions. While in Belfast, be sure to check out Titanic (Scenes from the British Wreck Commissioner’s Inquiry, 1912), a new play by Belfast native Owen McCafferty, which opens at The MAC theatre on April 22. And while you’re there stay at the Merchant Hotel, which currently features a “Titanic Experience” package complete with a nine-course tasting menu highlighting the flavors of 1912 and such cocktails as the Gin and Titonic.
