Travel Tip: Movie Trilogy Sites

Locations in this article:  Charlotte, NC Stockholm, Sweden

Lately, it seems like there’s been a slew of trilogies turned into movies turned into tourist attractions…and no, I don’t mean Lord of the Rings. Here’s where you can see your favorite book-turned-movie come to life.

It’s hard to avoid the buzz around The Hunger Games. The young-adult trilogy has gotten a lot of attention, and  you can go to North Carolina to see locations where the movie was shot. We’re talking places like DuPont State Recreational Forest and the North Fork Reservoir, not to mention all the places in Charlotte where the actors hung out in their off time.

How about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? The Millennium Tours in Stockholm has a well-mapped out walking tour where you can follow in the footsteps of the major characters.

And, sad to say, vampire madness isn’t going away anytime soon. So for Twilight fans, it’s time to see where Edward and Bella, well, took things to the next level. In the book they honeymooned on a mythical island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, so for the next best thing, to the bay at Saco de Mamangua where the honeymoon scenes were shot.
