Fantasy Baseball Camp: Training Like a Yankee, Part 6

Our first game this morning was against a team coached by Mickey Rivers and Bucky Dent. We were back on center stage, Steinbrenner Field, in front of a throng of about 20 close relatives.

The Rivers-Dent team was 3-3 with all their wins coming in morning games and all the losses coming in the afternoon. Their morning streak continued.

We took a pounding, still groggy from the celebration the night before, and lost 20-10 in a game stopped after eight innings as we were out of timeouts.

There were 53 hits in the contest, 28 by the other guys, and it resembled at times an adult Little League game. Yankee PA announcer Paul Olden was hoarse by the time it was mercifully stopped.

It still felt special to play in the gorgeous Stadium and I had a 2-4 day with 2 RBIs and a run scored. That comes off a 3-4 day in the Stadium on Thursday. Both hits were solid shots to the outfield and now that the pressure is off on an extra base knock I can refine my single hitting ability.
