Travel Tip: Travel Price Matching & Price Comparison

Travel Tip: Travel Price Matching & Price Comparison

If you’ve ever found a cheaper rate after making a reservation, it’s only fair
to get access to that lower price, right? Well, don’t make assumptions before
reading the fine print.

If you’re dealing with a specific hotel, the details are usually
straightforward. For example, the Eliot Hotel in Boston has a policy that if you
find a lower rate online, they’ll match it.

The only catch is it has to be the same room type and same dates to be eligible.

Expedia.com’s guarantee states if you find a better price online within 24 hours
they’ll refund the difference AND give you a travel coupon for $50 for future
use.

But that only kicks in if it’s the same trip on all components.

And with cruises, the refund only applies to the baseline fare, but not the
hefty taxes and fees.

Hotels.com’s price match guarantee also requires an “apples to apples”
comparison. But Hotels.com also has the right to modify or restrict that
guarantee at any time, for any or no reason, and without prior notice. Now that
fine print speaks for itself.
