Travel Tip: Great Views Via Observation Decks

You may have heard about the new observation deck attached to the International Space Station. OK, so chances are you won’t be traveling there anytime soon. But there are some other ways to get a great view right here on Earth.

The observation deck at LAX Airport was closed after 9/11. Now, after a multi-million-dollar renovation, the deck was recently re-opened to the public. With free admissions and 360-degree views of the airport, this is one of the best spots in town for planespotting.

Probably the most famous observation deck in the country is Top of the Rock in New York. But what you may not know is there’s a very cool Sunrise/Sunset pass that gets you access twice in one day. Go when it opens at 8 a..m., and again at 11 p.m. It’s like two different worlds.

For a real “wow” experience, you want head to Dubai. That’s quite a trip just for a view, but it’s home to the highest observation deck in the world on the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper.

And here’s a tip: the lines tend to get long, so buy your tickets in advance for a specific time: it’s 75 percent cheaper than general admission.
