Divorce Cruises

OK, so you’re divorced or separated and want to get out there and travel. Well, the good news is that some travel providers are now catering to divorced travelers—but is it all just a gimmick?
You may have heard of singles cruises, but what about divorce cruises?

Cruise.com has three divorce cruises this fall on Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.

The idea is that divorcees can spend time mingling onboard with special gatherings and activities.

But watch out—just because you’re signing up as a single traveler doesn’t mean you’re exempt from the cruise line’s single-supplement fees.

Even some hotel packages are designed for divorced travelers. Hotel Zaza in Dallas and Houston, Texas has a “Divorce Party Package.”

That includes stretch limo service for five hours, free cocktails, a “divorce cake,” and something called the “Walk of Shame Kit” … you know what? Don’t ask.

The downside to this experience? It’s not cheap, starting at $1,400 for the night, when a regular room rate is about $300.

And if you’re really looking for a new start, Marmara-Manhattan Hotel and Residences is offering a “Suddenly Splitsville” package.

For about $7,000, you get a month-long residence in a one-bedroom suite, a one-year subscription to Divorce Magazine, and of course, that necessary pint of Haagan-Daz.

OK, so it might be a gimmick, but if it helps, it’s worth a try.
