Stopover Destinations

Locations in this article:  Auckland, New Zealand Dubai, United Arab Emirates

If you want to get two vacations for the price of one, why not fly to your destination on an airline that lets you make a stopover in its hub city for next to nothing?

If you plan to visit Scandinavia, the UK, or other parts of Europe, try to book your flight on Iceland Air because the airline will let you make a free stopover in Reykjavik.

Flights depart from 14 cities in North America and let you stay in this cool capital city for up to seven days.

Or if you’re headed to Australia, Air New Zealand will let you make a stopover in Auckland, Fiji, Tahiti, or the Cook Islands. Depending on the season and the offer, it could be free or cost up to $100 extra.

If you’ve always wanted to check out Dubai, you may be in luck. Business and first-class travelers on Emirates Airlines can get a free stopover on flights that use Dubai as its hub.

Not only that, but you’ll get a free hotel stay, a 96-hour entry visa, and free admission to several attractions at the Dubai Mall.

And even if the airline doesn’t have a stopover program, look into options like multiple stop tickets, and even around-the-world fares, which likely to be far less expensive than buying several one-way tickets.
