Fishing For Your Dinner

If you’re new to fishing, believe me, you’re in for a great experience. That is, until you get to the cleaning and cooking. But in some places, they’ll actually do the dirty work for you!

In the Florida Keys, you’re in luck—practically every oceanside restaurant and resort has a BYOF option. That’s right, bring your own fish.

If you book a guided fishing tour with Robbie’s Marina, they’ll clean the fish for free.

Then you just take it to the nearby fish shack, and for $12, the chef will cook it any way you like, served with vegetables, rice, and plantains.

In Aspen, Colorado, the rivers are catch-and-release. But if you head higher up to the alpine lakes, you can catch rainbow and brown trout.

Bring your catch back to the Montagna at The Little Nell and they’ll cook it up for you.

And it wouldn’t be a trip to Alaska without a fishing excursion.

The fun part is that here, you can actually bring the fish home!

Companies like FishEx will clean vacuum-seal and flash-freeze the fish to ship home.

It will cost you overnight shipping, plus $2 a pound and a service fee.

Bottom line: if you’re in an area known for great fishing, just ask around.

Even if it’s not advertised, chances are they’ll clean and cook for you—just don’t ask them to do windows.
