Trek With Exotic Animals in New Mexico, North Dakota and Utah

If you want to trek with exotic animals, you don’t have to go all the way to the Andes or even to Africa to do it.

El Paseo Llama Expeditions in Taos, New Mexico will take trekkers of all ages on excursions that last anywhere from a few hours to 8 days.

You’ll hike through the Carson National Forest and the Wild Rivers Recreation Area while your llama companion carries all your gear, leaving you free to enjoy the journey–a pretty good deal.

Now if you thought dog sledding was something you could only do in Alaska, think again. North Dakota gets pretty cold too.

At Prairie Isle Dog Trekking they’ll teach you the basics of dog sledding, and take your group on a day or overnight tour of the north plains.

And lastly, if you’re worried about keeping up with the pace, then check out Base Camp in Moab, Utah, where you can trek with a giant tortoise.

Don’t worry, they give you books and a walkie-talkie, in case you guys run out of things to talk about.
