Passenger-Friendly Changes to the TSA?

Is it possible that the TSA is finally getting its act together? Okay, probably not, but it looks like the experience of going through airport security may be getting easier for travelers.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday and on other extremely busy days, nearly every domestic airport in America opens up special Family/Special Needs Lanes to help parents during the busiest travel time of the year.

Some family lanes have assistants to help stressed-out parents with kids get through security.

That means you can get help folding up strollers, unloading bags, and separating out.

And those family lanes aren’t just for those traveling with kids.

At the 45 largest airports, the family lanes also have special scanners to screen large bottles of liquids such as contact-lens solution and infant formula.

Even better news, the TSA is predicting the end of size restrictions on liquids by the fall of 2009.

That’s because a new “AT X-Ray” software will be able to determine the difference between a threatening liquid and a bottle of water.

That’s right, soon we’ll actually be traveling with more than three 3 ounces of liquid without the TSA calling for a strip-search and bomb-sniffing dogs.
