Fractional Ownership of Yachts, Jets and Cars: Live Like a King on a Prince’s Budget

You’ve heard of fractional ownerships of condos, but what about a luxury car, yacht–or even a jet? This doesn’t apply to the average Joe the Plumber, but if you’re a millionaire who’s been affected by the economic crisis, you can live like a king on a prince’s budget.

Shared car ownership companies let you drive high-end cars for limited periods.

We’re talking a Corvette Z51, Alfa Romeo, and a Ferrari Spider.

The company Exotic Car Share charges $250 for a five-year membership. Then you pay $990 for a three-day weekend, or and $1,280 for a full week.

It may sound pricey, but you don’t have to deal with maintenance, storage or depreciation, and you are buying a lifestyle, not a piece of property.

Yacht-share programs like Breeze Easy and Monocle typically start at $75,000 depending on boat size, plus annual maintenance fees

You get to use the yacht from 2-4 weeks per year for life.

Jets are obviously pricier, but you’re looking at about $80,000 for a Citation Ultra versus $11 million for a Boeing business jet.

You normally get 1/8th interest in an airplane, and can have up to 100 hours per year of usage.

Like I said, it’s not a deal for the average consumer, but if you’ve got a rich friend, tell them about it and go along for the ride.
