Heritage Travel Tours for Africans, Jews, Chinese and Native Americans

You may be familiar with heritage tours that help you track your roots in countries like Ireland, Scotland and Eastern Europe. But now there are programs to help people track their family trees in other parts of the world as well.

A company called Heritage Tours Online offers custom trips to South Africa, where African descendants can walk in the footsteps of their ancestors.

This company also offers tours for people of Jewish descent in Turkey, Spain and North Africa.

Lotus Tours offers heritage trips to China, for families with children adopted from there.

Prices are about $100 a day, not including airfare.

And right here in the U.S., those of Native American descent can take guided tours of reservations to get a sense of their own history and origins.

Go Native America offers a day-trip driving tour through Bighorn country of Wyoming and Montana.

And for about $350 per person you can arrange for an overnight stay on the northern Cheyenne reservation which includes a night in a teepee with storytelling and dancing.
