There are reasons why September is among the best months to travel; the weather is nice, tourists don’t do it, but most of all…it’s cheaper.
Summer means vacation for many, but instead of rushing off on crowded flights to overbooked hotels, waiting a few weeks until September may be the smartest– and most frugal plan.
On Kayak.com, the cheapest fare from New York to Dubai is almost $1,700 in July.
But merely two months later, the fares — like the temperature — drop by a quarter.
The Caribbean, often associated with summer or spring break, is another ideal September destination.
It’s not hard to find fares under $200 from Miami to the Bahamas and other Caribbean destinations in September, but wait until the winter high season and fares low are harder to come by.
Similarly, Italy fares soar near $1,700 or higher during the summer months from Los Angeles to Rome.
By September, they’re down to $1,100…and fall fare sales have yet to begin.
And that’s why September is a magic month for travel.
