Eye on Travel

Peter Greenberg Worldwide–Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda–January 31, 2015

speke resortThis week Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda. Winston Churchill called the country “the pearl of Africa,” and with good reason. From incredible natural resources (not to mention the Nile and Lake Victoria), and the country’s amazing mountain gorillas — 400 in the country (out of 700 in the world). But let’s not forget the country’s intense definition of sustainable travel: there’s even a law in Uganda that says if you cut down a tree you have to plant three in its place.

Listen as Peter talks with naturalists, park rangers, and Amos Wekesa, managing director of Great Lakes Safaris about the National Park’s efforts to stop poaching in the national forests, to his feelings about why Uganda is known as “Africa Compressed”.

Finally, we catch up with one of our regulars — Joe Brancatelli — who talks about the future of frequent flyer miles and why baggage mishandling has decreased. All of this and more on this week’s broadcast of Peter Greenberg Worldwide from Kampala, Uganda.
