Locations in this article:  Las Vegas, NV Los Angeles, CA

lux towerThis week, Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from the newly renovated SLS Hotel in Las Vegas. Formerly the Sahara Hotel and Casino, this is a place filled with history and legend. Considered the last of the Rat Pack hotels, this site hosted performers such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, and Judy Garland (just to name a few). After closing in 2011, the SLS Hotel took over the building in 2013 and undertook massive renovations.

Joining us at the newly reopened spot is Howard Stutz of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He talks about the history of the property and how new legends, such as Lenny Kravtiz, are leaving their mark on the hotel in unique ways. We also speak with Scott McCartney, who speaks about how dirty planes actually get, and how there is a lack of regulation for how clean planes need to be. Then John Katsilometes from the Las Vegas Sun describes why the Las Vegas locals are happy about the SLS Hotel renovation. All of this and more on this week’s broadcast of Peter Greenberg Worldwide from the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scott McCartney, Travel Editor for The Wall Street Journal, discusses the cleanliness of planes and the garbage that passengers leave behind. Looking for the most hygenic planes? Taking an international flight may be your best bet, but there are no regulations for any airlines as far as the level of cleanliness required.

Howard Stutz, Columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, talks about the history of the celebrities who have stayed at and performed at the Sahara, including the Beatles. Then he talks about the transformation of the Sahara into the SLS and the hand that Lenny Kravitz had in some of the room designs.

Joe Brancatelli of JoeSentMe.com explains why even though fuel prices are coming down for airlines, it will not result in lower ticket prices for passengers.  One reason is that fuel surcharges are exempt from corporate discount.

Allison Duck, Journalist for VegasChatter, reveals her favorite Las Vegas spots and some of the surprises that exist now, like barrel-aged cocktails.

Chef Jodie, Executive Chef of The Griddle at the SLS Hotel, explains why breakfast is the best meal to serve any time of day…even at 2 a.m. They even have alcohol infused pancakes.
