Travel Tip: The World’s Most Intense Ledge Walks

Locations in this article:  Auckland, New Zealand Toronto, Canada

Toronto's CN TowerForget about skydiving and bungee jumping. You can get a real adrenaline kick by taking a ledge walk…and surviving to tell the tale.

In Canada, the EdgeWalk takes you to the very edge of the CN Tower, the tallest building in Toronto. That’s right, you’re harnessed in and you basically hang off the edge of the structure, hands-free.

It’s more than 1,000 feet high and the platform is only 4 feet wide. Translation? It’s pretty terrifying.

Australia has something similar on the Gold Coast. The SkyPoint Climb is the tallest outdoor building walk—nearly 900 feet high. Even if you’re afraid of heights, the 360-degree views make it worthwhile.

Then there’s the SkyWalk in Auckland, New Zealand. It’s “only” about 600 feet off the ground. But what the crazy people do is not just walk around top of the building…they jump off it! Fully harnessed, of course.

But if you’re a real adrenaline junkie, there’s an experience in the Philippines that you definitely want to try. It’s a roller coaster on the edge of the 38th floor of the Crown Regency Hotel.

Don’t worry, there’s an option for those who want to go to the top, just for the view…before coming back to safe ground.
