Travel Tip: New Parking Space Apps

bigstock_Car_Park_at_Airport_16217993What’s the most annoying thing about driving in a busy city or attraction? Remembering where you parked your car.

The good news is your smartphone can save the day—with parking space apps.

The iCarPark app is 99 cents on Apple devices. It uses GPS to identify where your car is parked, and it lets you type in details like the level, section, and spot number.

You can even set a timer to avoid expired meters and parking tickets.

The app Car Locator for Android will remember your location via GPS, and display it on either a regular map or satellite view. It also tracks how long you’ve been in that spot.

Of course, with necessity being the mother of invention, there’s an entirely new business on the horizon: apps that let you sell parking spaces.

For example, with Monkey Parking in California, one tap of a button alerts other users that you have a parking spot available—and they pay you for it.

The cities don’t like this very much so these services are disappearing as fast as they come. But if you do use it…. remember to track where you parked your car!
