Travel Tip: How to Save Money by Booking Online
Going online to research flights used to be a matter of convenience. But now these sites have collected some very valuable data, which can translate into saving money by booking online.
A site and app called Adioso has a couple of cool features. You type in your desired trip and it will spit out the cheapest, fastest, and best trip options—based on cost, duration, and stops.
It also tells you about upcoming deals from your airport to several other cities, and when to go—it could be weeks or months down the line.
Google Flights has a map showing prices to cities worldwide based on your home airport and dates.
Plus, if you plug in a route, it will tell you how much you can save on alternate dates.
A site called Hopper will tell you when to find the cheapest flights over the next several months. It also tells you the best days of the week to fly—usually midweek.
While Bing Travel got rid of its Price Predictor tool, Kayak now has its own version. It’s great—telling you whether you should buy now or wait, based on historical data.
