With Veterans Day around the corner on November 11, former and current military members, as well as first responders and their families, are being recognized by the travel industry. There are travel deals for former and current military personnel with savings at resorts, boutique hotels and even a free stay in Washington, D.C.

Be Patriotic in Norfolk, Virginia
If you would like to immerse in the country’s military history, Norfolk, Virginia, is the place to go. Home to the world’s largest naval base, which offers a guided tour of aircraft carriers and ships, the city presents many other noteworthy sights and attractions on this nationwide holiday. You cannot miss the moving Armed Forces Memorial, which displays a collection of letters written by lost soldiers. The MacArthur Memorial showcases a collection of military and personal artifacts dedicated to the achievements of former General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur.

Spend Veteran’s Day in the Nature
Whether or not you are in the military, everyone can take advantage of free entrance to all visitors on this special holiday. For instance, Yosemite Park, drops its $20 entry charge per vehicle from November 9 through 11. While you are there, you should participate in the Fossils to Falls Trail, which will take you to lesser-known spots, and activities and attractions including wineries, museum and art galleries.
