Enterprise is going to add Harley-Davidsons to its inventory. Right now, they’ll only be available in Las Vegas. The idea is to be able to ride from the Strip to attractions like the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. You’ll need to have a motorcycle license, but they’ll provide the helmet.
Or how about this? The company Silvercar rents only one kind of vehicle: the Audi A4s. You arrive at SFO, DFW or other airports around the country, and a chauffeur brings you to your car. There are no lines—everything from unlocking the vehicle to getting the receipt is done through your smartphone.
Electric cars were supposed to be the next big thing, but the rental demand just wasn’t that high. Yet it’s a concept that’s not going away. Hertz and Enterprise are offering Tesla models. They’re pricey, but these cars have a longer range, so you don’t have to worry as much about where to recharge them.
