Travel Tip: High Tech Skiing

With ski season just around the corner, it’s all about staying on the cutting-edge to get the most out of your ski experience.

The big news from Vail resorts has to do with its newest gondola. Sure, it’s heated. And yes, it’s the fastest gondola of its type in the world, traveling 1,200 feet per minute. But here’s what’s really cool…it has Wi-Fi on board.

Want your own high-tech gear? Look for something called Recon Ready ski goggles. They take the standard, eye-protecting goggles, and turn it up a notch. We’re talking GPS-enabled trail maps, tracking your speed and altitude, and you can even listen to your music playlist as you ski. These guys are even planning to allow apps to integrate with the goggles.

And speaking of apps, that’s how skiers are getting around the slopes these days. Snowbird resort in Utah has an app that keeps you updated on ski conditions, trail maps, and real-time information on which trails and lifts are open.

The Park City Mountain Resort
just released its new app that tracks your stats, real-time conditions and you can even add on more ski days to your lift ticket.
