When to Book Christmas 2012 Flights: A CBS This Morning Report

Locations in this article:  Las Vegas, NV

October isn’t here yet, but it is not to early to plan your Christmas 2012 travel. Airline consolidation means that there are fewer flights and fuller planes, so you have to book earlier or you will be paying a significantly higher fare.

Normally, you should book your tickets 45 days before your planned departure. This Christmas, you need to book 60 to 75 days out, which is right now.

Remember, the longer you wait to book, the more you pay

It’s not just about when you book. It’s how you book. For value, consider alternate airports and alternate cities. Then remember to pick up the phone and have a conversation with an airline, hotel or travel agent.
