Studio Tours, Watching An Artist Work

Locations in this article:  Tampa, FL

Ever wondered how an artist goes from concept to creation? Well, your best bet is to see the process, which is possible when you take a tour of a working artist’s studio.

In Tampa, Florida, resident artist Arnold Martinez creates unusual art from tobacco, Cuban coffee, wine, and beer.

His studio is located in a former cigar worker’s house in the Ybor City Museum State Park, where visitors can watch the creative process at work.

The Artists’ Studio Tour of North Idaho is made up of a community of artists who offer free visits to their workshops, either on an organized tour or by appointment.

Guests can watch them using a variety of materials, including acrylic, pottery, oil paint, and even knitting.

In Santa Fe, a local artist started Emily’s Studio Art Tour, which arranges studio tours around the area. Visitors can create customized tours to focus on different artistic styles, such as Southwestern or Native American.

In Texas, an organization called Seeing Art San Antonio offers tours of studios and galleries where visitors are encouraged to talk to the artists about their works. And those aren’t the only options out there.

Chances are, if you stumble across a gallery or studio where an artist is hard at work, they’ll be more than happy to talk or make an appointment for a more in-depth visit.
