Travel Tip: Charity Hotels

Locations in this article:  Minneapolis, MN

Giving back to the community as a traveler may be easier than you think.

These days, several hotels are partnering up with charities to put some of your travel dollars to good use.

Gaylord Hotel Rooms for Good donates 10 percent of the room package rate to a monthly designated charity.

In May, those proceeds will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project, and in June, the designated charity is the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

If you book the Giving Room package at the Graves 601 hotel in downtown Minneapolis, the Graves Hospitality Corporation hotel will donate the cost of an overnight stay for a homeless child or family at a local shelter.

These rooms are priced the same as a comparable room and guests can even work with the concierge to arrange volunteer opportunities.

The Good Night Foundation is a non-profit organization that has teamed up with hotel properties around the world.

A $2 to $4 donation is added to the guests’ nightly rate.

Fifty percent of that will go to fund worldwide programs of the foundation’s choosing and 50 percent distributed to local organizations of the hotel’s choice.
