April airfares were up 33.3% over the same period last year, but in certain markets, airfares have actually doubled and they’re going higher as more people plan to travel this coming summer.

Consider this: in 2021, the highest number of passengers hit about 2.3 million a day going through TSA security checkpoints and the system struggled to handle those numbers. By next month, that number could be about 3.1 million passengers a day — something the system will not be able to handle.

The TSA is still understaffed, and so are airlines. But there may be some good news if you want to travel overseas.
