While we wait to see what “Amtrak Joe” has in store to improve and upgrade Amtrak, there is actually some good news to report — new trains and new routes around the world.

This year, the Orient Express has one-night trips to Rome, Florence, Geneva, Brussels and Amsterdam. Along with its regular and legendary long-haul luxury service, a new train line is being built between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

And coming this summer, the Canadian luxury train Rocky Mountaineer brings its service south, traveling between the Colorado Rockies and Utah. The train starts this August, traveling between Denver and Moab, Utah. It’s a great combination of spectacular views and gourmet food.
