The Essentials

COVID-19 Testing at Airports

As more and more destinations around the world require a negative COVID-19 test for entry, a number of airports are now offering rapid response tests for passengers.

New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport has a COVID-19 testing facility in Terminal 4. It offers PCR tests (also known as nasal swab tests) as well as antibody tests for $75. Rapid molecular tests with results in 15 minutes are offered for a much pricier $200.

At San Francisco International Airport (SFO), COVID-19 tests are available to United Airlines passengers heading to Hawaii, where a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required in order to skip the otherwise mandatory 14-day quarantine.

At Tampa International Airport in Florida, a testing site is located in the main terminal. PCR tests cost $125, and antigen tests cost $57.

You can also take a COVID-19 test for select flights at airports in Tucson, Miami, Los Angeles, Alaska, Dallas-Fort Worth, Newark, Boston, and LaGuardia in New York.

Keep in mind that in most cases, tests at airports can be much more expensive and are really for last-minute passengers who couldn’t plan ahead.
