How Jet Lag Is Affected By the Direction You’re Flying

Do you suffer from jet lag on either long or short flights?

Assuming the answer is yes, then the direction you’re flying might have a direct impact on the severity of the jet lag.

A study at the University of Maryland concluded that our natural circadian cycle is affected not just by time zones but by direction.

Flying East means that we lose time.

For example, flying from New York to London eats five hours from our day, and the researchers determined that we need about 1.5 days per time zone to readjust flying East. And, the researchers found that we need much less time flying West (a little bit less than one day).
